When I debated atheist Christopher Hitchens recently, one of the eight arguments I offered for God’s existence was the creation of this supremely fine-tuned universe out of nothing. I spoke of the five main lines of scientific evidence—denoted by the acronym SURGE—that point to the definite beginning of the space-time continuum. They are: The Second Law of Thermodynamics, the Expanding Universe, the Radiation Afterglow from the Big Bang Explosion, the Great galaxy seeds in the Radiation Afterglow, and Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity.
While I don’t have space to unpack this evidence here (see I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist), it all points to the fact that the universe began from literally nothing physical or temporal. Once there was no time, no space, and no matter and then it all banged into existence out of nothing with great precision.
The evidence led astronomer Dr. Robert Jastrow—who until his recent death was the director of the Mount Wilson observatory once led by Edwin Hubble—to author a book called God and the Astronomers. Despite revealing in the first line of chapter 1 that he was personally agnostic about ‘religious matters,” Jastrow reviewed some of the SURGE evidence and concluded, “Now we see how the astronomical evidence leads to a biblical view of the origin of the world. The details differ, but the essential elements in the astronomical and biblical accounts of Genesis are the same: the chain of events leading to man commenced suddenly and sharply at a definite moment in time, in a flash of light and energy.”

Dr. Russell Humphreys presents Center of the Universe Quantized Red Shifts Show: http://blip.tv/origins/origins-center-of-the-universe-4881949 , Dr. Danny Faulkner presents Big Bang or Big God: http://blip.tv/origins/origins-big-bang-or-big-god-5622514 , and Mike Riddle from Answers in Genesis addresses the mounting problems for the big bang in this on demand video: http://www.answersingenesis.org/media/video/ondemand/astronomy-and-the-bible/astronomy-bible. If the big bang were true, why do short period comets still have ice? Why are there no Stage 3 Supernovas? Where is all of the anti-matter? Where are the Monopoles? Where are the forming stars? Why do planets spin in different directions? The list goes on and on. Why are Jupiter and Saturn still warm planets. The big bang is simply one of mankind's fallible ideas (very fallible) that compromising (or gullible) theologians have tried to incorporate into The Bible. The big bang is an theory whose day has come and gone. It is an impossibility. Here is another great video: Dr. Jason Lisle presents Big Problems with The Big Bang http://www.answersingenesis.org/media/video/ondemand/aa-big-bang/aa-big-bang Dr. Jason Lisle has a Ph.D. in Astrophysics. Richard Milne who wrote this article needs to know the big bang is impossible since his education is a Bachelors from UC Berkeley, and a Th.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary. In these matters God's Word will be victorious everytime. My dad was head of The Petroleum Engineering Dept. at the University of Tulsa in the 60's. He went on to form International Petroleum Consulting Inc. and teach for OGCI. He taught at Imperial College in London. He taught for most large oil companies, so I would like to address geology and the age of the earth. It is clear in The Bible that disease, death, suffering, and thorns came as a result of sin (The Fall) roughly 6,000 years ago. Thorns, disease and death are in the fossil record, therefore the fossil record is less than 6,000 years old. Most fossils were laid down by The Biblical Flood 4,300 years ago which washes away the time of all of the old earth positions. This is proven with rapid deposition and uplift in no less than the Grand Canyon, and more specific Carbon Canyon where the sedimentary layers were rapidly deposited underwater, uplifted and folded up to 90 degree angles without fracturing because they were still soft & pliable. This is only possible for the Grand Canyon with rapid deposition because the sedimentary layers from top to bottom did not have time to harden before uplift and folding as evidenced by the folding without fracturing. Remember the layers are sedimentary, not metamorphic, thus the folding happened while soft & pliable. I could go on for hours and discuss Dinosaur blood and more, but I have made a few important points that the old age thinking has crumbled under the weight of God's general revelation, His Creation. Thank you for listening!
