The Right and Wrong of the Prosperity Gospel

« Love + Apologetics = Evangelism | Main | A Case for Natural Marriage »

I think #2 of what's wrong with the Prosperity Gospel (PG) is a little off. Of course everyone can be healed; the issue is that not everyone will be healed [fully] in this life, as the personal experiences of many will affirm. God does still heal people today, and His grace is still at work in those situations where healing does not occur. I have heard that the PG teaches that lack of healing (or of God's tangible blessing for that matter) is a sign of sin or God's disfavor; this would, of course, be an issue that is wrong and, if a true teaching of PG preachers, should replace what is currently #2 on this list.

and please do not reference Paul's thorn in the fleshe
1. It was not a sickness
2. We know why it was given to him.

Where does it say in the Bible that all people cannot be healed?

Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.

I urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. Jude 3

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

For we did not follow cleverly contrived myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ; instead, we were eyewitnesses of His majesty. 2 Peter 1:16
