We live in a materialist culture in which the denial of spirit is sanctioned. Instead of employing our science to look more deeply for God, we use it to declare him out of bounds. In  some universities it is actually fashionable to teach what cannot be measured does not exist. The arrogance of it is extraordinary. We presume that our little rules and clocks can encompass Reality.  Rather than recognizing our limitations, we strive to limit the world. Unable to cut it down to our size, we deny the immeasurable. In some ways our arrogance masks our fear. We are afraid of the immeasurable Spirit, the power of love beyond all comprehension. We want to be in control of life; God forbid that life should be in control of us.
