The Book of Acts gives us so many more examples that the early Spirit-led church used evangelism and apologetics to make converts. But we have seen that apologetics is a kind of pre-evangelism (as Francis Schaeffer put it) that removes obstacles to the exercise of saving faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior (Ephesians 2:8). If we want to be true to the Great Commission, we must oppose the omission of apologetics from the task of teaching the nations the truth of the Bible so that people are converted and baptized in the name of the Holy Trinity. —Douglas Groothuis (from, Apologetics and Evangelism: The Best of Friends)
