Tip #5: Truly listen and get to know people.

One of the things that always challenges me as I read the Gospels is the way Jesus interacted with people. He often took the time to stop and engage with people, giving them a chance to express the needs of their hearts. As believers who have a desire to share the Gospel with others, we would do well to learn from Jesus’ example. We need to remember that every person we meet is unique, has a story that can be told about their life, and has needs and concerns that often will not be evident at first glance. We would do well to take the time to ask questions that demonstrate a genuine concern for people, and then truly listen to what they have to say. Engage in conversation with them and let them get to know you as well. Put yourself in their shoes – how would you want someone, maybe a stranger, to engage you in conversation?

It’s been said that people don’t really care what or how much you know, until they know how much you care. By taking the time to truly listen and get to know the people we have opportunity to speak with, we demonstrate that we genuinely care about them as a person, and not just as an evangelistic prospect. Who knows, the interest you show in them may bear fruit well beyond what you could expect.

As this year comes to a close and we prepare to launch into 2019, I invite you to consider partnering with us in prayer and financially as you’re able so we engage our world together.

To a fruitful 2019,
Greg West and Engage 360 Team
